What you Growin?

I challenged myself last year to start a raised garden bed and NOW I'm an obsessed black plant parent, talking and pouring into my plants daily. In my experience I've learned to let my plants "live", you don't have control over what your harvest will be. You can only water, feed, nurture, and wait. Hopeful that your grow will be fruitful.

I started my second growing season with broccoli, strawberries, and cabbage. The early spring season is great for these veggies that don’t require full sun. I’ve already harvested a whole 8 strawberries lol and a few broccoli florets. Check out my day 1 versus day 68.

This year I’m elevating my green thumb with a second box. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, so I’ll be using my soil mix from the previous year which worked wonders, a combo of peat moss, vegetable soil, and compost.

With the summer right around the corner I’ve added squash, jalapenos, tomatoes, basil, oregano, mint, and rosemary, all acceptable for the upcoming Texas heat and sun, purchased from the Dallas Farmers Market. Jalapenos, basil, tomatoes, and oregano are great companion plants, growing extremely well together. I'm excited to see the amazing progress my babies have made.
